Well, hi!My name is Shae, and I'm a 24-year-old Maltese/Australian living in Melbourne. My passions lay in the worlds of history and literature, however I've begun to open up my interests in the last year or so as I've realised that I need outlets of creativity that don't revolve around books!
If I tried to list all of the reasons that influenced my decision to start this beauty/lifestyle blog, we'd be here until Tuesday getting through them. However, I think I have to at least mention the trigger which prompted it: a gross pad thai that was salty as balls.
There is also my recent fascination with makeup. I didn't start wearing makeup until I was almost 16 -- only because I'd just gotten a job, and even then it was just foundation. Sometimes I'd break out clear or pink lip gloss on special occasions, but otherwise, no dice. Too afraid of gouging out my eye, I didn't dare go near mascara until I was 18; I stayed away from eyeliner until I was 19 or 20, for much the same reason.
Eye shadow: forget it. Primer: what was that? It wasn't until I was 21 that I really began to learn more about cosmetics, and I fully catapulted myself into it late 2013, when I decided that I'd had enough of putting myself down about my appearance. I realised that if I wanted to look as pretty on the outside as I felt on the inside, it was up to me to put the effort into it.
If there's one person I have to thank for all of this, it is Danielle, the writer behind Confessions of a Beauty School Dropout. I stumbled on her blog once upon a time and since then she has been nothing short of absolutely wonderful. While I read from one or two other blogs, and watch numerous YouTube tutorials, she has been my ultimate go-to girl -- the Qui Gon Jinn to my Obi-Wan Kenobi. Without her I'd be failing spectacularly at makeup, and most of my day-to-day success has been because of her!
Anyway, I hope you enjoy reading this blog and stick with me as I figure out how to do the things that normal people do everywhere!
